Healthy Street Dogs
I love this dish because it’s like a step-up from an easy lazy meal. It’s also nostalgic. Who else remembers enjoying a delicious fresh off the grill street dog from a street vendor on a late night? (But then do you remember the indigestion after as well? uggghhh lol)
Here’s my take on a “healthy” version of those delicious street dogs! I use organic grass-fed beef hot dogs and a sprouted bread for easier digestion. I don’t feel guilty one bit eating these! Healthy protein and fats are an A+ in my book!!!
The tip I learned is to cook the peppers with a little bit of mustard. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
Organic Grass-fed Beef Hot Dogs (I get mine from Costco)
Sprouted Bread
Organic peppers (any color you prefer)
Onions
Dijon mustard (used when cooking peppers)
an other condiments you enjoy
Directions:
1.) Slice peppers and onions into thin slices.
2.) Cut slits into dogs to make it a little more fancy ;)
3.) Place both on hot grill pan or cast iron skillet that is lightly greased.
4.) When the peppers start to get a little soft, add a little bit of dijon mustard to them and let cook longer until nicely browned.
5.) Cook dogs and peppers for a few minutes until done.
6.) Then top on toasted sprouted bread and add condiments of your choice!
